Except for his shrew of a pacifist girlfriend. You wont be disappointed,this will keep you laughing. Elizabeth Banks looks so nice in this film,because unlike most films where she is blonde her hair is black.
The last of the hippies manages to create turmoil with his sisters, all of whom have relationship issues with spouses or significant others.
While the laughs are few and far between, and it takes awhile to get where it is trying to go, the story here wraps up in a very rewarding way.
The ending makes this film worth the journey and wraps things with a bow. I love Paul Rudd. This guy can do no wrong.
He should be a superstar. He's probably underappreciated because he takes a lot of chances. Instead of going the blockbuster route he takes off-the-wall parts in small disarming films like this one.
His Ned Rockland might be his most disarming and indelible screen role yet. The film starts with Ned selling weed to a uniformed police officer.
After his release from prison circumstances lead him to live with his family. Ned is a trusting soul who takes people at face value.
This trait is born more out of naivete then idiocy. Each of his three sisters have built lives that are as precarious as a house of cards.
When Ned comes into their lives his blunt honesty causes the charades they've each devised to come tumbling down.
The results are both heartbreaking and heartwarming. This is easily one of the funniest films of the year. The first 2 times I watched this, I wanted to like it more than I liked it.
Then some friends and I watched Paul Rudd lip sync with Jimmy Fallon and we decided to watch this together. They loved it! Paul Rudd is wonderful as the clueless, but loving and lovable hippie.
The message is great. The female actresses are lovely and great to watch. I think the frustrating thing about this movie is that it was just a few directorial decisions away from being phenomenal.
I think it was the comedic timing. They didn't let the jokes land, somehow. But the message is still wonderful and so is Rudd and everyone else.
I recommend it! Watch it to see if you agree. One person found this helpful. I went into this movie with low expectations, the title turned me off because of the plot line it implied.
I was pleasantly surprised. The plot is fairly complex, the characters have good depth, its funny in a low key way, there is some drama and suspense, but best of all is how good this movie makes you feel.
I don't like chick flicks or mushy movies, and this was neither of those. But the movie makes you feel warm inside and makes you want to be as good and honest to the people in your life as Paul Rudd was with the cast members.

The movie itself was charming even as it delved into a few real issues. I just really enjoyed watching it. I debated how to rate this, but reflecting upon it, I felt satisfied and content.
It wasnt the greatest movie of all time, but it was really good. Therefore, I think four stars is fair. An hour and a half well spent IMO.
I will watch anything as long as Paul Rudd is part of the cast! That being said, this video was not what I expected. In the beginning it was a little sad.
I was ready to laugh and I immediately felt sorry for Mr. Rudd's character and was ready to feel that way throughout the movie. Thank goodness this wasn't the case.
The movie is about family. We don't choose them, we don't always like them. But in the end we cannot deny our love for them.
And, no matter how deeply that love is buried it's there and will quickly make its way to the surface when that love is all that's left. That's what this movie is about.

One idiot film Where to start with this car-wreck of a film, one-dimensional characters, sloppy storyline if any and boring to the point of numbness.
The story is that the brother I have even forgotten his name sells some hash get that to a cop. Ends up being banged up and has to have an address to stay after release.
He has three sisters who really do not want to have him in their house. Cue all manner of unfunny situations. Enter Steve Coogan and Emily Mortimer hopelessly miscast as his sister and brother-in-law.
They just cannot manage an American accent. His middle sister is a journalist and his youngest is a lesbian who has an affair with a bloke and of course gets pregnant.
He spends the whole film looking for his dog Willie Nelson. You'll have to enter your Parental PIN to watch this.

I love this film for its portrayal of innocence and ingenuousness amid betrayal and hypocrisy. Paul Rudd is very good as the honest but hapless innocent.
His three sisters and their partners are well played too. I especially love the scene when they try to get his dog, Willy Nelson, back from the hippy ex-girlfriend.
The writing is clever and the acting is superb. I recommend this for a good, gentle laugh and and its feel-good factor. A very feel-good story with a highly loveable main character Paul Rudd who might not be the brightest of people, but has a heart of gold and a positive outlook on life.
The all of cast is brilliant and had done their job very well, the movie is also funny, which obviously makes it a really good comedy.
